Let’s Hear it for the Girls!

My brother and his wife are expecting their 4th child and hot off the press…3rd girl!  Girls are kind of an anomaly in my husband and I’s families, so whenever someone finds out they are having a girl we squeal!  Just me, not my husband.  Anyway, this calls for a celebration!  My sister-in-law has 5 brothers herself.  So excited for you!  Here’s a “shout out” design for you and all your girls!

My design sprang from this teal Jenny Lind twin headboard I found from Target.  Isn’t it so fun?  I love the wide use of blue in girls rooms these days.  It looks really cute with accents of pink and even pink walls.  I selected a light gray wall color from Sherwin Williams called “Eider White”, but you can easily paint the walls Sherwin Williams “Comical Coral” if you want to have a bit more fun.  In that case, swap the pink curtains for white.

The Target headboard also comes in white.  It is very similar to the jenny lind style bed from The Land of Nod, but is a steal at $420 LESS!  The headboard from Target is $179.99 and the bed from Land of Nod is $599.00.  The Target jenny lind bed does not have side rails, nor a footboard, but I think it’s a great alternative for the “look for less”.

See, girls are so fun!  Land of Nod’s toddler bed is adorable!

I also love the piece of artwork I found on Etsy from Sweet Peony Press“Be You”.  A great mantra for any little girl and may even be a better reminder for me at my age to remember to just be me, especially as I venture into the blogging world.  It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, making everything in life a comparison or a competition.  I started this blog for me, to help me remember a piece of me that was starting to become buried and I don’t want to forget that.  So, “Be You” and I’ll be me 🙂

  1. Fun to see a girl’s room through your eyes–I’ve always loved those spool beds (which is what my grandmother used to call them). Maybe one for my guest room? But they probably don’t come in queen!

Let me know what you think!
